Why I Blog

why i blog

For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved to write. I love memories, I love recording my thoughts, and I love the outlet that writing gives me. I’ve kept journals since I was a tiny girl. At first, I had sweet little diaries with a lock and key. Then I graduated to larger notebook type journals. Most recently, I’ve kept my thoughts and ideas in various notebooks, planners, and in my phone. I haven’t been organized, though, and it’s been making me crazy. Right after the baby was born, I had such a strong urge to document my thoughts and feelings. As the year since has gone by, I’ve done a pretty good job keeping up with journaling, but I still felt like I was missing something important. That’s when I remembered how much I used to love to blog and the beginning of November seemed like a great time to revamp my old one and start fresh. So that’s what I did.

A few friends have asked me exactly what this blog is about and I don’t really know how to answer. I’m a bit random anyway, and I think writing brings that out even more. Some days I feel serious and I want to write about something from my heart. Other days, I feel like shopping (errrr…window shopping), and I want to share things I love. I pretty much always have projects going, everything from scrapbooking to quilting to reading and more, and I like to write about those things, too. Pretty things make me happy, and I love to share them. I like to think of this space as my everyday life/mama/wife/crafty/lifestyle/random musings free for all, and I think that’s what it will be. Maybe at some point I’ll have a more specific direction, but for now I’m really happy just writing about what I feel. No matter how random that might be.

  1. Yes! Perfectly said. I think a lot of people feel this way, and in some ways I think blogging can help people connect in the way you were describing in your “Everyone Has a Story” post. I think bloggers generally write what they are thinking or feeling and when others read it … well, it’s like getting to know that person a little deeper. I love the random things. I guess because I am a bit random too. 🙂 Keep writing! I enjoy your posts.
