I’m a wanna-be minimalist with a hoarder’s heart. I’m selfish and entitled but I want to be grateful. Things make me happy, but I wish that weren’t the case. I have the best intentions but I get in my own way. I want my kids to be grateful, but how can I expect that from them when I can’t always manage it myself?
These things have been weighing on my heart for quite a while, and when I heard that Kristen Welch, of We are THAT Family, had written a new book, I quickly applied to be on the launch team. Oh, I was so excited to get the email that I had been invited to join the team! The book is called Raising Grateful Kids in and Entitled World, and it could not be more perfect for my heart’s struggle.
The introduction brought me to tears, and by the end of chapter one, I felt a conviction on this topic that was finally beginning to make sense.
“And as uncomfortable as it sounds, parents who want less-entitled kids have to be less entitled themselves, and parents who want to raise more grateful kids need to start by living more grateful lives.” –Kristen Welch
I know that I will learn and grow through this book. Some of it will probably be painful, or at the very least, uncomfortable. But I can’t wait to see what this will look like for me and for my family. They have no idea what they’re in for.
Raising Grateful Kids in and Entitled World is available for pre-order (with some awesome free gifts!) now, and will officially release on January 26.
